St Mary's University, Twickenham joins forces with StudyStash to pilot student-centred adaptive learning platform
St Mary's University, Twickenham has announced a new partnership with StudyStash, an AI-powered learning platform built by students, for students, to pilot innovative ways of supporting student attainment, engagement, and retention through responsible artificial intelligence.
The pilot will see our platform integrated directly within St Mary's online learning environment, providing students with personalised, adaptive study tools that respond to their individual learning needs. StudyStash uses AI to transform lecture notes, slides, and course content into tailored revision resources, including quizzes, flashcards, and smart study schedules, while maintaining the highest standards of data ethics and academic integrity.
Following on from successful rollouts at the University of Birmingham and Loughborough University, at St Mary's, the focus will be on community-driven learning, wellbeing, and academic balance, reflecting the university's strong student-centred ethos.
A focus on learning belonging and balance
The St Mary's pilot will include all online learners, across courses like Computer Science and Marketing, as well as programmes in Education, Psychology, and MBA pathways, exploring how AI can reduce academic stress, build confidence, and strengthen independent learning skills. By integrating directly within the LMS, students will be able to access their personalised study materials without switching platforms, giving them an easier, more intuitive way to stay organised and on track.
St Mary's has always prioritised the experience and success of our students. Our implementation of StudyStash within Canvas provides a great way to help all online students stay engaged with their courses and achieve academic success.

Student-centred, always
StudyStash was founded by two students at the University of Birmingham who wanted to make studying simpler, smarter, and more personal. Balancing lectures, coursework, and revision, they saw first-hand how disconnected digital tools often were from the real learning experience.
Their solution was to create a platform that thinks like a student – one that uses AI to make learning more efficient, adaptive, and stress-free. What started as a university side-project has since evolved into a growing education technology company, now partnering with universities across the UK, Europe, and the US.
Responsible innovation
Our aim has always been to make AI in education transparent, ethical, and genuinely useful to both students and faculty. Partnering with St Mary's, a university known for its strong community values, is the perfect setting to see how StudyStash can enhance outcomes that matter

The pilot will run throughout the academic year, gathering insights on student engagement, confidence, and academic outcomes. These findings will inform future iterations of the StudyStash platform as it continues expanding to support higher education institutions worldwide.
We're excited to see how our student-focused platform can support online learners and complement the outstanding teaching and innovation happening at St Mary's.
