The collaboration will focus on how adaptive study tools can fit into students' existing academic routines, helping them make sense of complex course material, revisit key concepts more effectively, and approach assessments with greater confidence.

The new pilot will roll out in Physics, Computer Science, and Biology, with undergraduate students participating through BGSU's Learning Management System (LMS).

A Shared Commitment to Student Success

Bowling Green State University, ranked #1 public university in Ohio for student experience by The Wall Street Journal, promises learning that serves the public good. This partnership explores how adaptive study tools can strengthen independent learning, confidence, and engagement within existing course structures. By embedding StudyStash directly into course workflows, the pilot supports students without added complexity while giving instructors clearer insight into how learners engage with course material.

StudyStash's adaptive approach aligns with BGSU's commitment to inclusive and ethical education, meeting students where they are and adjusting support as learning develops. Built with guardrails around academic integrity, data privacy, and transparency, the platform is designed to complement teaching by reducing repetitive workload and enabling timely academic support.

A student-centered solution

StudyStash was created by students, for students. Founded by University of Birmingham graduates Ben Ward and Jonathan Graham, who created the first version of the platform while revising for their Computer Engineering exams. They built StudyStash to adapt to learners, rather than asking learners to adapt to technology, helping students retain knowledge more effectively through structured, evidence-based revision. What began as a student-built solution has since grown into an international EdTech initiative, now supporting institutions across the UK, US, and Europe to improve learning organization, confidence, and outcomes.

Evidence-based impact

BGSU and StudyStash share an interest in using technology thoughtfully, testing ideas, measuring impact, and learning from real student experiences. Throughout the pilot, the focus will remain on understanding what genuinely helps students learn more effectively, and where AI can add value without compromising trust or academic standards.

The pilot will run during the Spring 2026 term, with findings shared internally to support ongoing evaluation and decision-making. Insights from the pilot will inform future development of the platform and contribute to wider conversations around responsible, evidence-based AI adoption in US higher education.

BGSU's commitment to innovation and using technology to better support their students makes them an ideal partner for us. We're excited to collaborate with such a thoughtful and student-focused institution.
