How Jaimee transformed her study struggles into success with StudyStash
About Jaimee
I'm Jamiee, a second-year biomed student at the University of Birmingham. I've found studying and learning okay but obviously university can be challenging; trying to make good lecture notes and stay up to date with all the work.
Over the years I've tried to make some written notes and flashcards but I've struggled in finding an effective way to make flashcards online, other than writing them out beforehand. It was taking a lot of time to get everything together in one place. I'd also tried to do quiz questions or test my knowledge with mock exams, but again, I found it hard to find ones for myself that were to the right standard.
The turning point
The university introduced StudyStash in a lecture to us in around February, and I've found all of the features really helpful. Especially the flashcard tool and the test feature, because it's been able to actually make sure I understand the topics. Rather than just reading through content and assuming I know it, it's helped to actually embed it in my head. I noticed when I was learning my flashcards that I kept seeing specific topics, and I know they're coming up because I don't know it yet – that has been really helpful.
Favourite features
StudyStash has definitely improved my results from when I had exams in January versus the results I had in the summer which has been great. Also, because I'm able to access the flashcards daily, it is helping build confidence in what I'm learning. Actually understanding the content rather than just trying to cram it all in one in a matter of days is helping to gradually teach it to me.
It's also been really great to test my understanding for lectures and be able to summarise my notes so I know what the key points of every topic is; I don't have to go searching through 60 slides of PowerPoint information, I can find exactly what I need very quickly, which has been really helpful. StudyStash has just saved me so much time.
In a nutshell
I'd describe StudyStash as efficient, in terms of being able to summarise what I need very quickly. Helpful is probably the biggest one, and also accessible - because I'm able to access it on all my devices. It's so easy just to login and get straight into learning. Plus, when I've been traveling to/from anywhere, I always have it on my phone or my tablet so I just click on it straight away and do my flashcards or catch up with notes which is really handy.
The verdict
I definitely recommend StudyStash to other students, even just because it helps keep all your notes in one place and it's so useful to test your own understanding.
